Meet The Speakers
Charles has led nationally recognized student success programs and reviewed thousands of applications at institutions including Johns Hopkins, UC San Diego, and UT Austin. A first-generation college student himself, he brings both professional expertise and personal perspective to his counseling. His students have gone on to schools such as Harvard, Yale, Stanford, MIT, Columbia, and UC Berkeley, and he has particular strength in guiding multilingual, multicultural, and first-generation students, as well as those pursuing STEM, pre-health, and research-focused paths. An avid traveler who has explored over 20 countries, Charles is also the co-founder of a nonprofit supporting first-generation students.
Lee Ann Cornell has spent more than a decade studying how admissions offices make decisions and helping students use that insight to their advantage. She has served as Director of Admission for three different graduate schools and led admission-related initiatives at universities across the country, giving her a clear, behind-the-scenes view of how applications are reviewed. Her students have been admitted to hundreds of colleges, including Ivy League universities, selective public flagships, and top liberal arts colleges. She is known for making a complex process feel organized and human and for helping students uncover authentic, compelling essay ideas.
