Help Your Teen Choose a Major With Confidence in Today's Changing Job Market
With nearly 2,000 majors to choose from at U.S. colleges, it’s no wonder students feel overwhelmed. Your teen’s intended major will influence not only their application strategy and college experience, but also future career opportunities. So making the right decision is critical.
That’s where we come in.
Join Anita, former UChicago Academic Advisor, and Hanifa, Columbia alumna and admissions mentor to 1,000+ students, as they break down the major-selection process and share what colleges look for when evaluating students’ choice of major against their academic profile.
During this event, you will learn:
How to research and identify the best-fit major for your teen based on their interests, strengths, and future goals
The truth behind applying as “declared” vs. “undecided” and when each option makes sense
The shifting impact between college major and future job opportunities
Which majors are especially competitive or impacted, and what students should understand before applying
With the right guidance, your teen can explore their options, discover what excites them, and make a choice that truly fits. Register today!

Meet The Speakers
Anita has spent her entire career in service of students—as a student affairs professional at Macalester, as an academic advisor at UChicago, as a College Admissions Advisor both in her own practice and in other firms, and now as a Collegewise counselor and helps students through the college admissions process. Anita earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Williams College and went on to earn her master’s in student affairs and academic support at the University of Michigan. Anita has a knack for building relationships quickly and making seemingly unrelated connections between people and ideas, which comes in quite handy when she’s helping students identify and apply to their best-fit schools.
Hanifa has been passionate about higher education since deciding to be a professor at age 13. After an amazing journey as a student at Swarthmore College (bachelor’s degree) and Columbia University (two master’s degrees), this passion shifted to a lasting commitment to helping others access and make the most of their own life-changing college experiences. As an instructor and advisor at colleges like Columbia University and George Washington University and a college counselor for several years, Hanifa has helped over 1000 students accomplish their goals on their paths toward academic and career success.
