Meet The Speakers
For 17 years, Tien has guided Bay Area students through every step of the college admissions journey. She currently serves as a college counselor and department chair at Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, where she has spent the last 14 years helping students gain admission to a wide range of colleges from all the UC and Cal State campuses to highly selective schools like Stanford, MIT, Yale, and Columbia. Tien is known for her steady guidance, deep knowledge, and the genuine care she brings to every student and family she supports. She holds a BA and PPS credential from San Jose State University and a certificate in college admissions and career planning from UC Santa Cruz.
Theo has guided students from around the world through the admissions process, helping them earn acceptances to highly selective institutions in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Europe. As a first-generation college graduate, he brings a deep appreciation for the transformative power of higher education and works to ensure his students feel confident and supported along the way. Fluent in Spanish, Theo spent five years as an independent counselor in Mexico City, where he also led workshops for school counselors on topics ranging from the Common App to stress management. Now back in California, he continues to help families navigate both U.S. and international admissions while enjoying his passions for swimming, national parks, and history.
